Job Description: Applications Engineer Manager:

Manages Applications Engineering, Project Management and Supports Sales of all Corporation equipment in North America.  All managers, supervisors, and employees are responsible for supporting company quality policies and initiatives as well as promoting and supporting continuous improvement efforts.

  • Reviews and Assigns all RFQ’s for equipment and systems.
  • Reviews Sales inquiry report along with customer specifications, if any.
  • Obtains any needed clarification.
  • Assigns an Application Engineer to handle RFQ / Quotation.
  • Assigns E-Number for the Project.
  • Reviews all quotations before released to the customer.
  • Confirms with Engineering, Manufacturing, Service and Purchasing as required.
  • Manages Proposal and all Materials for the Sales.
  • Manages the CRM data.
  • Prepare Monthly Report.
  • Releases the Proposal and Material to Customer.
  • Prepares and Releases all Standard Proposals.

Supports Sales:

  • Manages and directs all Sales Materials for North America. Answer as well as Direct Questions when required. Manages internal testing as required. Working with Engineering and Manufacturing.

Makes trips to prospective customer plants as required:

  • Makes trips when necessary to obtain information for preparing an estimate (normally, a Sales Account Representative function). Makes trips with Sales Account Representatives when necessary, to help present the proposal (normally a Sales Account Representative function).

Follows up jobs to back check estimates:

  • Reviews job cost summary sheets periodically to compare actual to estimated costs. Investigates reasons for deviations. Reviews Findings with Application Engineers and Department Head. Incorporates the findings in future estimates.

Order/Estimate processing:

  • Confirms Purchase Order for compliance. Ensures receives signed proposal from customer upon order/prior to order confirmation. Approves Customer’s Terms and Conditions where applicable. Review with Sales Management, CFO and CEO, when necessary. Confirms Order entry into Syteline. Attends the Kick-off Meetings and assigns the Project Managers.

Manages Project management:

  • Reviews and approves Timelines appropriately. Reviews Budgets & Expenditures of all specific Projects By-Monthly. Review and assign Change Order Requests during the project execution. Perform Project Management duties as applicable. Review and Direct Quality Procedures related position
  • Manages R & D Projects within the Sales group. Outlines the R & D Projects. Creates Capital Expenditure Paperwork for Management approval. Works with other Departments to manage the R & D Project.
  • Develops, supports, and evaluates Application Engineering as well as Project Management staff. Provides continuing training and motivation of personnel; provides new product training.
  • Develops performance measurements and provides continual feedback. Ensures performance reviews are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Directly supervises 5 employees in Foundry, Sys-T-Mation and SST Application Engineering and Project Management.

Minimum Qualifications: Applications Engineer Manager Qualifications:

Bachelors of Science degree (B.S.) and over 10 years related experience and/or training.  Additional classes (courses, seminars) required would include: Foundry processes courses at AFS, Automation, Project Management, Salesforce (CRM) basics, Basic physics as it relates to force, work, pressure, etc., Manufacturing processes.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write proposals that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to customers and management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY -Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
